Advisor responsibilities

 

 

 Student-led/Student Interest Clubs (unpaid advisor positions)

Student Interest Clubs are a great way for students to find common interests with other classmates and a place to belong. As these are student-led clubs, the beliefs and viewpoints are not necessarily representative of Eden Prairie High School or District 272. It is the role of the advisor to guide and assist student leaders. Advisors are not required to lead or instruct, plan or prepare anything for the club. The advisor is ultimately responsible for the actions and supervision of the club and must know what is going on at all times. 

Club Advisors Responsibilities:

1. Complete annual application sent from the Activities Office that requests club registration.a. Aid students in planning for the fall Activities Rush & club sign-ups.

2. Create, administer & monitor Schoology page, if utilized by your club. 

3. Provide or request a space for club meetings to take place:

a. FOCUS time requests are made through the Activities Information Coordinator. 

b. Before or after school, all requests must be made through the Assistant Activities Director.

4. Report any issues to the Activities Director as soon as they arise.

5. Oversee and support the club members whenever necessary. 

6. Approval of flyers:

a. Flyer must be approved by the Activities Director/Assistant Activities Director.

b. Once approved, the flyer will be printed and stamped by the Activities Office. 

c. Flyers must be hung in designated locations and taken down once event has concluded.

7. Student Interest Clubs are not allowed to schedule field trips or leave campus.

a. Any off-campus activity relevant to the students common interest does not have affiliation with the Eden Prairie School District. 

b. Students choosing to meet outside of their designated EPHS approved club times are doing so at their own discretion. 

c. Administration should still be made aware if students are choosing to meet off-campus in the common interest of the club. 

8. Student-interest clubs may not host fundraisers, host events, sell tickets or items to the public or the student body.a. Student interest clubs will not be given a school fund account
