    Fine Arts

    Fine Arts

    Art Club: Is open to all 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. A variety of activities may include manga art, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry design, and print making. There is a limit of 20 students for this club.

    There is no art club during Quarter 1. Quarter 2 Art Club will meet before school from 8:10-9:10. (Quarter 3 Art Club will meet after school).

    There is an activity bus available if needed for after school activities. They will get a pass for the bus from the advisor. It will leave CMS at 5:30. If you plan on picking up you student, please pick them up on the bus side of CMS.


    Central Singers: If you enjoy singing and would like to further develop your skills and confidence in singing, then Central Singers is for you. There is a 6/7/8th grade girls/boys choir. We perform in two concerts and special events during the school year. You need not be enrolled in a CMS choir to participate in this group.

    • Day: Tuesday
    • Time: 8:20 am in PAC 3
    • Fee: $20

    Drama Club: Have you ever wanted to try acting, but you aren't quite sure if you'd like it? Have you ever heard of crew, but you don't know how to run a soundboard, spotlights, or how to create a set, costume design or prop? You will learn a variety of skills before deciding what you would like to do. This club offers 6th, 7th and 8th grade students an avenue for personal expression through the theater arts. Vocal exercises, improvisation, games and skits are all a part of the fun. Great preparation for the CMS fall play, musical, and variety show.

    • Drama Club will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays each week from December 11 - January 29.
    • There will be a maximum of 30 students per grade.
    • The advisors for drama club are:
      • 6th grade - Dave Johnson
      • 7/8th grade - Katie Skramstad

    Instrumental Ensembles: If you are in band or play a string instrument, ensembles provide a way to further your skills by playing different music from what we play in band. Ensembles offer an opportunity to have fun playing in a smaller group. 6th, 7th and 8th grade students are encouraged to participate. There are one or two concerts during the year, and occasional performances at special events. Ensembles include jazz band, percussion, drumline, pep band, woodwind, brass ensembles, and chamber orchestra. Your band instructors will have more information in your band classes. 

    They will meet before school at 8:20. The fee is $20 for each ensemble. Start date for each ensemble:

      • Brass Ensemble @ 8:20 in PAC 4
      • Percussion Ensembles @ 8:20 in PAC 
    • ThursdayStarting September 19
      • Pep Band @ 8:20 in PAC 1
      • 7/8 Chamber Orchestra - @ 8:20 in PAC 2
      • (6th grade Chamber will start after winter break or the start of the 3rd Quarter)
    • FridayStarting September 20
      • Woodwind Ensemble @ 8:20 in PAC4
      • Drumline @ 8:20 PAC 1

    Spring Musical: CMS puts on a musical each Spring. Sign-up opportunities will be in the Advisor video announcements.Though the size of the cast differs from show to show, opportunities are available for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in singing roles, non-singing roles, crews for lights and sound, set construction, painting, costumes, make-up, and publicity. Opportunities also exist for 8th grade instrumental students to be in the pit orchestra. The cast and orchestra are selected through auditions. Students selected to participate are expected to attend all scheduled rehearsals and performances.

    Auditions will be February 10-12. Crew will start shortly after that. Cast rehearsal will start after the cast is set in mid February. The sign up sheets to audition will be posted at the Student Activities office starting the first week of February.

    If your student is part of the Cast, Crew or Pit please go to mypaymentsplus and register for the Musical.

    • Saturday rehearsals for both cast and crew will be April 19th 8-4pm and April 26th 4-8pm.
    • Performances:
      • April 29, May 1, and 2 at 7pm in the CMS PAC
      • May 3 at 2pm in the CMS PAC

    Variety Show: The annual variety show is presented by CMS as a showcase for its multi-talented students. Acts are selected by auditions in an effort to involve as many and as varied a selection as possible. Acts have included dance, gymnastics, singing, live music, skits, mime, etc.

    • Dress rehearsal will be on February 18.
    • The performance will be February 20 at 7pm in the CMS PAC. Send all submissions and questions to Mrs. Rowan at sara_rowan@edenpr.org

    CMS Play: All 6th, 7th and 8th grade students are welcome to become part of the cast or crew of a full-length play. 

    The performances will be on November 21, 22, and 23rd. No dramatic experience is necessary. Students are needed for cast and “behind the scene crews”. Students selected to participate are expected to attend all scheduled rehearsals and performances.

    • Days/Times:
      • Cast: Monday - Thursday rehearsals are held after school.
      • Crew: meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays
      • Cast and Crew Saturday rehearsal will be November 16, 8-4pm.
      • If they are interested in being part of the Crew, registration forms are also in the Student Activities Office. 
    • Show times: 
      • Thursday - November 21 at 7pm  CMS PAC
      • Friday - November 22 at 7pm CMS PAC
      • Saturday - November 23 at 2pm CMS PAC
      • Tickets go on sale 1 hour before the show.

    Dungeons and Dragons Club is a group that meets to have fun and play Dungeons and Dragons together. This club is the place to unwind and meet new people. You don't need to have experience to join; just be willing to have fun!

    • It meets on Wednesdays after school in room 711.
    • Advisor is Mr. Perona
    • Maximum number of students is 20. 

    Jewelry Making: This class is open to all 6, 7, and 8th graders. Make jewelry with metals, faux leather, paper, vinyl and other materials. You will learn how to use the right tools to make jewelry.You will leave each week with a new pair of earring or other piece of jewelry. There are two sessions. Mondays after school or Tuesday mornings. Please only sign up for one session. We are limited to 12 students per session.

    • Mondays- meets after school at 4:15 - 5 p.m., January 12 - March 2
    • Tuesday- meets before school at 8:15 -9 a.m., January 13 - March 3
